One of yoga’s “hidden gems” is a Restorative Class where your only job is to relax.
Restorative yoga, originally designed by B.K.S. Iyengar, seeks to promote physical, mental and emotional release with the help of props and a skilled instructor who can help bring you into a state of deep relaxation.
Props (blankets, bolsters, etc) help you to achieve balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. While some restorative yoga poses are beneficial to the entire body, others are geared towards individual parts of the body, such as the spine, heart or the lungs.
One of Iyengar’s students, Judith Lasater, is credited with helping to spread the message of Restorative through books and seminars. Our hope is to get more of us hard workers relaxing, too!
Restorative Classes are on Mondays, once per month.
